About Our School

It is very easy to remain updated with Darul Arqam School, one of the best Islamic schools in New Jersey, NJ, through various channels. Our website is at www.darularqam.org. Please keep your contact information updated so you will not miss any important communication.

Darul Arqam students (K-12) are required to wear the official school uniform, both the dress and gym attire. See our website at School Uniform under the Admissions tab for details. Uniforms are to be purchased through our official distributor only, Flynn & O’Hara, or by calling 1-800-441-4122.

Girls in Grade 4 and above are required to wear abayas. An official “Uniform Abaya,” in both Maroon and Dark Grey is only available from East Essence. Please check on our website what color is required for your grade level.

School Procedures

  • Morning drop-offs begin at 7:45 AM
  • Preschool–Kindergarten will use the Leland Ave carpool entrance (second door).
  • Grades 1–12 will enter through the Gym/Parking Lot entrance.
  • School staff members are to greet the students and ensure a safe start to the day.
  • The assembly begins at 7:50 AM and includes morning Azkar and announcements.
  • For families with children across different grade levels, entry is provided through the Leland Ave entrance.
  • For security reasons, after 8:05 AM the entrances are closed and students will enter through the main entrance on Leland Avenue.
  • Late-arriving students need a pass from their homeroom teacher.
  • Dismissal timings are as follows:
  • Preschool and Prekindergarten (no siblings in K-12): 2:30 PM.
  • All other students: 3:10 PM.
  • Parents should pick up their children at the same location they drop off. 
  • Students wait at the designated exits with their teachers until their name is called. 
  • Pickup needs to be completed prior to 3:25 PM to avoid aftercare fees. 
  • In the case of late pickups, students can be collected from the main office.

We welcome parents to participate in many aspects of Darul Arqam School. For safety, all visitors and volunteers should enter through the main entrance on Leland Ave. Early Childhood parents will begin this practice on the second day of school. When arriving, please go to the main office to sign in and get a visitor’s pass. If you volunteer, remember to log your hours according to the instructions in the handbook.

We do not allow parking during drop-off and pickup times to ensure smooth operations. Follow the carpool line to facilitate quick transitions. For daytime visits, street parking is available or in the church parking lot at the end of Leland Ave. The school parking lot is reserved for staff members.

Academic Information

Back to School Night is the opportunity to meet the teachers and get all the information about classroom expectations:

Early Childhood and Elementary: September 12th, 5-7 PM.

Middle and High School: September 19th, 5-7 PM.

The event will include the opportunity to link with homeroom and subject teachers and offer insight into curriculum matters.

Parents can view their child’s progress in the Teacherease portal on teacherease.com. Access your child’s assignments, grades, and report cards and review school announcements in one place. Email admin@darularqam.org for your username and password to log on.

School Services

Yes, we do have a Hot Lunch Program beginning in October, Monday through Thursday. Fridays are saved for class bake sales, which go toward extracurricular activities. All lunches and snacks must be NUT-FREE as DAS is a nut-free school. If you prefer, you may send lunch from home. Information about hot lunch forms will be provided during the first weeks of school.

Darul Arqam School encourages community involvement. All families are expected to contribute 25 volunteer hours per year to assist in various school activities. At Darul Arqam School, one of the leading Muslim schools in New Jersey, safety and smooth coordination of all activities concerning students, including their dismissal, is of utmost importance. Please note the following regarding Friday’s early dismissal:

Friday Dismissal Time

All students are dismissed at 2:30 PM every Friday. Parents are requested to come on time to pick up their children.

Policy for Parents Accompanying Jummah Salah at ISCR Masjid

Parents coming for Jummah Salah at ISCR Masjid cannot enter the school building/main office to take their children home early. Please follow this early pickup procedure after Jummah Salah in order to keep dismissal orderly:.

Early Pickup – After Jumma Salah

  • Parents wishing to take their child(ren) home immediately after Jummah Salah but before 2:30 PM must submit the Early Dismissal Form before 12:00 PM on Friday.

  • Children can be picked up in the gym after Jummah Salah.

     

Important Notes

  • This form is to be filled out ONLY by parents coming for Jummah to ISCR Masjid who are able/will be ready to pick up their child(ren) immediately after the Salah.
  • Those students not taken home directly after Jummah Salah will return to their classes and be dismissed at the regular dismissal time of 2:30 PM.
  • Children are never allowed to be left unattended in the gym.
